In Mobility Work, a task generated from a maintenance plan cannot be deleted, but it can be canceled.
Canceling a task indicates that an intervention will not take place, while preserving the consistency and history of the maintenance plan.
This article explains when, how, and with what consequences to cancel a maintenance plan task.
When should you cancel a maintenance plan task?
Canceling a task is useful when:
- the intervention is no longer required (equipment out of service, change in strategy, etc.);
- the task was generated automatically but should not be carried out;
- a specific occurrence of the plan must be skipped.
👉 Canceling applies to one specific task and does not impact the overall maintenance plan.
Steps to cancel a task
- Go to the Tasks tab or the calendar.
- Open the maintenance plan task you want to cancel.
- Click the Cancel button.
Select the reason for cancellation in the modal window.
- Confirm the cancellation.
The task status is then set to Canceled.
Consequences of canceling a task
Once the task is canceled:
- it can no longer be edited;
- it is no longer possible to:
- add or modify activities;
- complete or edit the checklist;
- add documents;
- the time spent on this task is no longer counted;
- the task no longer appears as an intervention to be performed.
The canceled task can be restored.
Impact on the maintenance plan
- The maintenance plan remains active.
- Other tasks, past or future, are not affected.
- New tasks will continue to be generated according to the plan’s rules.
👉 Canceling a task does not change the frequency or configuration of the maintenance plan.
Difference between canceling a task and modifying the plan
- Canceling a task:
- one-time action;
- affects a single occurrence;
- does not impact future tasks.
- Modifying the maintenance plan:
- affects all future, uncompleted tasks;
- changes generation rules (frequency, content, assignments, etc.).
Key points to remember
- A maintenance plan task cannot be deleted, only canceled.
- A canceled task can be restored.
- The maintenance plan continues to run normally.
- To prevent future similar tasks, you must modify the plan, not the task.
