In Mobility Work, tasks generated from a maintenance plan are created automatically.
However, some information can be modified directly at the task level, without impacting the maintenance plan itself.
This article explains what can be modified, how to proceed, and the limitations to be aware of.
Principle of modifying a maintenance plan task
A task linked to a maintenance plan:
- is created automatically by the system;
- can be modified on a case-by-case basis;
- remains linked to the plan, but any changes made apply only to that specific task.
⚠️ Modifying a task does not affect the maintenance plan or other future tasks.
Editable information on a maintenance plan task
Depending on your permissions, you can modify the following elements:
- Task description
- Start date and time
- End date and time
- Assigned users or teams
- Labels
- Spare parts to be planned
- Checklist
- Attached documents
Edits are made using the pencil or cross icon displayed next to each field.
Modifying the schedule (dates)
The scheduled date of a maintenance plan task can be modified under certain conditions:
- the task cannot be moved after the date of the next task in the plan;
- the task cannot be moved before the date of the previous task.
These rules ensure the chronological consistency of tasks generated by the plan.
Difference between modifying a task and modifying the plan
It is important to distinguish between the two levels clearly:
- Task modification:
- affects only the selected task;
- has no impact on future tasks;
- is useful for managing a one-off situation.
- Maintenance plan modification:
- impacts all future, uncompleted tasks;
- allows changes to generation rules (frequency, content, assignments, etc.).
To modify a maintenance plan, refer to the dedicated article.
When modification is no longer possible
A maintenance plan task can no longer be modified if it is:
- cancelled;
- completed (closed).
In these cases, it is no longer possible to:
- add activities;
- modify information;
- complete or edit the checklist.
⚠️ Exception: it is still possible to add documents or attachments, even on a completed task.
Key points to remember
- A maintenance plan task can be modified individually.
- Changes affect only the selected task.
- Task generation rules remain defined by the maintenance plan.
- To permanently change future tasks, the plan must be modified — not the task.
