The total time shown on the Activities page and the time shown in the Dashboard can sometimes differ. This article explains which date each page is based on and where the differences come from.
Which date is the period based on?
- On the Activities page, the period is based on the scheduled date of the tasks the activities belong to, not on the date the activities were carried out.
- In Task Analysis and Task Status in the Dashboard, the period is also based by default on the scheduled date of the tasks.
- In the Dashboard, the "Date type" filter lets you use the creation date or the end date of the tasks instead.
- Expenditure analysis in the Dashboard is based on the date the activities were carried out.
Example
You select the period from 03/01/2026 to 03/31/2026, and a task scheduled on 02/28/2026 contains an activity carried out on 03/02/2026.
- This activity does not appear on the Activities page, because the scheduled date of its task is outside the period.
- It does not appear in Task Analysis either with the default date type.
- However, it does appear in the March Expenditure analysis, which is based on the date the activity was carried out.
Where do the differences come from?
- A difference appears if the Date type selected in the Dashboard is not the scheduled date.
- A difference appears if the filters are not the same on both pages, for example statuses, users, tags or equipment.
- A difference is normal between the Activities page and Expenditure analysis, because they are not based on the same date.
For details on the filters, see What is the "Task Analysis" menu of the Dashboard?.
