It is possible to notice a difference between the total time displayed on the Activities page and the time shown in the Dashboard.
This article explains why these numbers may differ and how to interpret these differences.
Understanding the difference
The main difference comes from the types of dates used in the filters that define the selected period.
- Activities page
- The selected period lists all activities actually recorded between the start and end dates you defined.
- Dashboard
- By default, the selected period refers to the planned dates of tasks, just like the task search.
- Only activities linked to tasks whose planned date falls within the selected period will be included.
- In the Filters, you can also change the Date type to use the task creation date or the task completion date, which may change the displayed results.
As a result, some activities may appear on the Activities page but not in the Dashboard if they are linked to tasks planned outside the selected period.
Example
Suppose you select the period 03/01/2026 to 03/31/2026:
- A task planned on 02/28/2026 contains an activity performed on 03/02/2026.
- This activity will appear on the Activities page, because the activity date falls within the selected period.
- However, it will not appear in the Dashboard, because the task’s planned date (02/28/2026) is outside the default selected period.
Key points
- The Activities page is based on activity execution dates.
- The Dashboard and task search are based, by default, on task planned dates.
- In the Dashboard, you can change the Date type to use the task creation date or task completion date.
- It is normal to observe a difference between these views when activities are performed outside the planned task dates.
