The "offline" mode allows your mobile device to function without a network connection by disabling Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and location services. Whether this deactivation is intentional (airplane mode) or due to a lack of network coverage, you can continue using the Mobility Work app even when you're not connected.
The key is to make network data accessible before losing the connection, ensuring uninterrupted work continuity.
All synchronized tasks are automatically deleted from the device after 2 days (between manual synchronization and purge).
How to make my data available offline?
Before using offline mode, make sure your database is synchronized.
Two types of synchronization are possible:
- Manual task synchronization (one by one)
- Synchronization of all data (equipment, spare parts, colleagues and teams, labels, checklists, and counters), excluding tasks.
Task Synchronization
If you need a specific task to be accessible in offline mode, you can synchronize that task from the task page while online. Just click on the 🔄 button that appears in the top main menu of the task. Network data synchronization does not include tasks.
Information such as task details, spare parts to prepare, checklists, activities, and documents will be available offline.
Synchronizing All Data
To synchronize all data (excluding tasks) before going offline, follow these steps:
- Access offline mode: Open the left sidebar of the mobile app and click on "Offline Mode."
- Synchronize the data: Click on "Synchronize network data" to update your database. This process is quick, and you will see a message confirming that synchronization is complete.
You can also access offline data from this screen.
Deleting Synchronized Data
If necessary, you can clear the synchronization and delete all data available offline. By using the button below, you can delete them all at once.
To unsynchronize a task, go to the offline task list and unsynchronize the one of your choice by clicking on the button on the right.
How does the app work in offline mode?
Once the network connection is lost, offline mode is automatically activated. You will be informed with the following screen:
What actions are possible in offline mode?
When you are in offline mode, if you have previously synchronized your data, you can:
- View the list of offline tasks and get a preview of the task details (equipment photo, last synchronization, equipment name, task description, labels, task duration, assigned people, and status).
- Create a task on equipment: Add a new task to an existing piece of equipment.
- Edit a task: Make changes to a task created offline or previously synchronized.
- Mark a task as completed: Mark a task as finished.
- Create an activity: Add an activity corresponding to a created task (with the option to add spare parts, counters, and participants).
- Add documents to tasks
- View checklist steps (without being able to modify them) only if the checklist was started in online mode.
To enter interventions (tasks and activities) on a piece of equipment, that equipment must already be registered in the CMMS. It is not possible to create new equipment in offline mode. Make sure to synchronize your equipment database before entering offline mode to ensure that you can work on your entire machine fleet.
How to enter tasks in offline mode?
To create a task, click on the provided option on the screen. The task creation page will appear, and you can fill in the necessary information. Follow the usual procedure to enter and validate your task.
To add an activity to a task, proceed as usual from the task. You can also enter values for counters or spare parts. After validation, the task will appear on the main screen with other tasks available offline.
How to view data entered offline?
To view data created in offline mode, just click on the button available at the top right of the screen. The icon indicates the number of data entries made during the time you were offline.
Tasks created offline, if needed or in case of an error, can be deleted during this offline session. Simply click on the trash button on the right, as shown in the photo below.
How to synchronize offline data when back online?
As soon as you restore your network connection (by disabling airplane mode or accessing network coverage), the app will automatically synchronize the offline data. These data will immediately appear in your activity feed.
Possible conflicts in offline mode
Some conflicts may arise for users while they are in offline mode.
-
Modifying a task in offline mode that was already marked as completed
If a user modifies a task in offline mode, but that task has already been marked as completed in the meantime (after its synchronization, which made it available offline), the synchronization of this modification will fail when online, as a completed task cannot be modified.
In this case, once the connection is restored, the user will see the following message:
By pressing the message, the user will access the list of offline tasks. The orange icon on the right of the task will help identify which task it is. If the user clicks on this icon, a message detailing the problem will appear below.
The modification will not be taken into account.
-
Not enough spare parts to synchronize the activity
If the user performs a spare parts withdrawal greater than the available quantity at the moment, the app will inform them of the conflict when synchronizing these modifications online.
The activity will not be taken into account.
